A Message from F. O. P. Lodge #1 Immediate Past President, Allen Treadaway

Immediately upon starting my career in law enforcement I looked for an organization that would best represent and protect the rights of law enforcement officers. What I found in the Fraternal Order of Police was an organization that was capable of doing just that. Lodge #1 is not only part of the largest police organization in the nation, it’s the oldest and largest in the State of Alabama. The Fraternal Order of Police is committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers through many means but perhaps none are more important than employee representation.

Recently Birmingham Lodge #1 has been successful in its effort to get legislation passed in Montgomery and to negotiate for wage and benefits increases in Birmingham that are the most substantial any of us have ever received. In the last year Lodge #1 has seen a dramatic increase in membership that has strengthened our ability to represent our membership. A great majority of Birmingham Police Officers are now active members of the lodge. We are working towards a 100% membership of our present active duty police officers in Birmingham and surrounding jurisdictions. It is through this great participation that the lodge draws it's strength to lobby for better wages and benefits, to provide reliable legal representation and support, and to publicly support it's members individually or as a group when the need arises.

I am honored to have been selected to represent the Lodge and it's many members. As the President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1, I stand committed to providing dedicated and honest representation for our membership.

If you are not already a member of the Fraternal Order of Police I encourage you to do so. You may download an application from this Website. Together we could move mountains.
